Carolivia Herron gives presentations around the country on the following topics:

Call and Response

Herron considers Call and Response to be the greatest gift African American people have given to themselves and to the world. Jazz, blues, sermons, rap music and story telling all have this powerful quality in black communities. Call and Response is the philosophy and the practical application of including all voices in community events. Herron’s educational products are steeped in this philosophy — an appropriate emblem of democracy.

First Amendment Issues - Freedom of Speech and Press

Methods of teaching multicultural education (K through College), especially the freedom to teach the books of many cultures, such as African American epic and oral poetry (Nappy Hair as an example) in the context of European and Hebraic epic poetry (comparing Nappy Hair to the Iliad, Odyssey, Aeneid, Divine Comedy, Paradise Lost, Chaka the Great, the Bible, etc.)
