One aspect of Nappy Hair I really liked was the "call and response" format of the story. The inclusion of this format gives the reader a real "feel" for African-American community and process, and this kind of sharing of culture is of much value to everyone. I also found the "call and reponse" format very poetic and musical--very enjoyable to read. It had a rhythm, a movement, to it. I also liked how the family was depicted as very strong and supportive.
